As a licenced Top Tier Waste Carrier, at Lyons we embrace fully our leading role in protecting our planet. Our green credentials are exemplary as we recycle an estimated 83% of all the loads we clear away. This is quite impressive considering that, according to recent figures from DEFRA, the UK as a whole recycles on average only 40% of waste, with the rest 60% ending up in landfill. A good example of environmental leadership is our colour-coded wheelie bin service, which facilitates and encourages sorting the waste at source. Of course it is not always possible or practical for clients to segregate waste, so our procedures ensure that all loads

are sorted into the appropriate classifications (i.e. WEEE, metal, wood, plasterboard & gypsum, plastics etc.) and taken to licenced MRFs (Materials Recycling Facilities) for recycling or energy-producing incineration. In addition, all our vehicles are well-maintained to comply with low-emmissions legislation and we optimise routes carefully to further minimise our environmental impact per tonne of waste carried.
